Over the last few years working in the ICU and dealing with
rotating residents from different specialties, I found that Mechanical Ventilation
is the single most difficult task for anyone coming to the world of ICU.
Covering all the aspects of Mechanical Ventilation in one or
two lectures is difficult. Therefore, we found that having this course and
workshop for RT's, doctors and nurses is be very useful.
The course has two parts. The first part consists of the morning lectures
which cover much of the basic knowledge that is needed when dealing with
ventilators. The second part consists of workshop stations during which we
cover the practical issues of the mechanical ventilation.
During the course, there will be hands on training for the
candidates. Also, we provide a simulator to clarify the mechanical ventilation
issues by using carefully designed scenarios. The candidate will be the active
player to monitor and treat these unique patients.
Who should attend the course?
Nurses, respiratory therapists
and doctors in training. In fact, senior residents and fellows in intensive
care, anesthesia and emergency medicine will find this course very useful.
What are the areas that the
course will cover?
This course will cover most of
the areas of mechanical ventilations from physiology, basic settings, and
trouble shooting of ventilators to managing complicated respiratory and non
respiratory disorders. For further details of the course, you can refer to the
website for the full schedule.
Are there any materials that
will be given to the candidates?
Yes. A course book will be given to the
candidates.
Does the course have any CME
credits?
Yes. Every candidate will
receive 20 CME hours for the completion of the course.
