This
course provides the participants a review in depth of concepts and principles
in the care of clients with varied and complex biologic crises in acute care areas
at Riyadh Military Hospital.
In
the management of these clients, the Nursing Process will be utilized.
Related
evidence-based concepts in Holistic Care, Psychopathophysiology, Pharmacology,
Nutrition, Rehabilitation, and Infection Control will be threaded-in in each
type of alteration.
Course
Description:
This
an intensive course for 10 days that covers the basic Knowledge, Skills and Attitude
of a critical care practitioner in a critical care setting.
The
content of this course is in accordance with the international standards set by
the American Association for Critical Care Nurses (AACN) and evidence-based
practices as approved by the hospital policies & procedures.
The
structure of this course will be a series of didactic lectures and skills
demonstration.
Target
Respondents:
All
critical care nurses in GICU, recovery Room, Accident & Emergency area are
respondents of this course.

Program Objectives:
At the end of
the program these are the objectives the critical care nurse practitioner
should achieve:
1. Apply concepts of Holistic care to
patient , family and significant others
2. Assess hemodynamic status of
clients in biologic crisis promptly and efficiently
3. Integrate acquired critical care
concepts and evidence-based practices in the care of clients
4. Demonstrate ability to detect early and manage sudden or
acute deterioration of patient's condition
5. Set various accepted parameters
for invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring
6. Utilize the nursing process in
analyzing, interpreting and planning interventions for patient care
7. Relate concepts in
psycho-patho-physiologic basis of disease condition to patient's clinical assessment,
signs & symptoms, laboratory and diagnostics results, responses to
interventions.
